Joseph

Joseph story is interesting especially the way he presented. It is a documentary video, but it was shown in modern style. I liked the way he used to show the pictures and videos, and I would like to use this way of presenting photos on my digital story. What I did not like about the video is the background music, it is very confused with his voice. I think he has most of the seven elements.

The Triple Convergence

With the ten flatteners,which can play an important role in the modern life today, they work together in order to achieve their goal. The increase of using of the Internet and the flatteners that we discussed in the chapter 2 that have an essential influence in our lives, which depend in different aspects on technology. Moreover, Internet and software have an influence on many countries such as China, Russia, and others by opening the border between the countries to exchange things. This demonstrates the globalization term in the world. Moreover, being talent is the most important thing to get job or opportunities more than the place or other things. All these factors work together to improve or facilitate our lives.  Furthermore, the development that Friedman talked about it is similar to the growth of the Iraq economy because the border of trading opened after the war which facilitate many things in the country.

Flatteners 8,9, and 10

Flattener 8: Insourcing:  with the emerge of the UPS, which facilitate work for many small or large companies around the world. When companies started to use the USP, the cost of services decreased with increasing in providing more services for the consumers. For example,  Toshiba company.

Flattener9: In-Forming: the increasing of the use of the Internet especially to find information which are easy to find by using the search engines such as, MSN, Yahoo, Google, and many others. This development in the using of the Internet technology facilitates many aspects of life for people around the globe.

Flattener10:  The Steroids:  digital, smart phones,  personal computers, laptops, and many other devices that people use to communicate with each other or to do their work can be done at high speed with low  cost. Moreover, this advanced technology you can use anywhere and at anytime which also help many people with their work and lives. For example, we use phones to send text messages which are much cheaper than other things that were used before.

Flatteners 4,5,6, and 7

Flattener 4: uploading harnessing the power of communities:
it is related to the online projects that people use to connect and share with each other, and it is common in our daily lives such as blogs, Wikipedia, and others.

Flattener 5: outsourcing: it is basically saying that outsourcing has allowed people and companies to share their products with each other and can help them to show their products to the consumer in more effective way and in the same time it is cheaper.

Flattener6: offshoring:  it is the communication between companies to share or introduce their products with different companies in different places in the world.


Flattener7: supply chaining: it is one of the way that companies use to show their products to their consumers by using technology which in many ways facilitate the way of trading like shipping, and other stuff that a company needs to do. one example for that is Wal-Mart company.  

The World Is Flat

In the first chapter of the world is flat, Thomas L. Friedman was talking about his experience in Bangalore, India.  He talked about Columbus Journey to India, and what did he discovered about the earth. He thinks that his journey is similar to Columbus to India but the different is Friedman used technology which helped him a lot while Columbus did not. Moreover, both of them they were searching for sources in India. Friedman described his experience when he saw the technology companies that run programs to America or Europe. Furthermore, the whole Idea of the world is Flat is that the new technologies that we use in our daily life have facilitated many things for us. We can easily communicate, work, explore, and do many other things just by using technology which was not available in Columbus time. This development in technology took us to another direction of the world. Now we see many countries such as India can compete other countries like America by the development that they have in technology. All these things made our world flat which means it is similar to small city all people live in. Moreover, Friedman kept his traveling and visiting many countries around the world such as, Iraq and other countries, he found the globalization term which he wants to define. Then, he talked about the competition between countries such as Japan and America to win the market of technology. In the conclusion, Friedman in his journey to India and other countries met businesspeople and workers for these countries, and he had an idea about how they run their companies. Moreover, he saw the globalization of many aspects of our lives such as the restaurants in the countries that he visited. All these things made the world similar to a small city that has diversity of people.    

1.      Flattener 1 is The new age of creativity: the changes that took a place after 1990 in the world. The emergent of technology and economic to cooperate to done the work. This development and the increase of the need of technology in life lead to emerge new technologies in the world one of them is computers which have been developed a lot in different aspects such as on the programs that run computers and other things related to computers.

2.      Flattener 2: The New Age of Connectivity: the emergent of the Internet that allowed people around the world to connect with each other with the advantage of saving their money. Then the appearance of the web pages which are commonly used around the whole world.

3.      Flattener 3: World Flow Software: the improvement in the software programs that allowed many companies to use this opportunity which facilitate many things for them to work on creating films and make effects on them. Not only in film maker that software has helped but also in other fields that computer is a part of it.     

The advanced development in technology that is occurring now is similar to many other development fields in our lives. At first, Ray Kurzweil talked about the technology promise and peril which use solar power that is very expensive and heavy. In order to solve solar power problem, people started to use other energy alternatives that are cheaper, less harmful for the environment, and safer for people instead of using nuclear power and gas. Moreover, Bono said that we have the ability and the equipment to solve poverty and disease problems. All that development that is happening in the world around us is synchronous with the use of technology.

            Furthermore, it is hard to predict things about technology future unlike other fields in life such as in biology. Another important thing about technology is the growth of using technology in our lives. Some technology projects can fail as any other projects, but there are many successful projects such as Genome project. Moreover, people use old technology to improve new technology generation. Other thing is the Phenomena to rate of adopting new ideas have increased in the last few years.
